i understand it, but really hard to imagine this awfc team without katie mccabe in it. something pretty special about hers being the single player chant that will regularly get picked up even in the quieter blocks at the emirates 🥹

i was so so freezing cold, but after this long winter gap of purely experiencing games through a screen there is something so refreshing about being in the ground where you see what you see and are free to form your own initial views without influence from anyone elses commentary

i view all this as very positive. we fans are obviously not qualified to judge the suitability of the personnel from the outside, but this is clear recognition that structures needed a change and I don't think it's bad that it starts from within with people who know the club

hopefully a positive sign that daph is recovering well and borbe has been good enough to knock GK down the recruitment priority list for jan and let us focus on outfield areas instead 🤞

what's makes the arsenal women midfield 'dilemma' so interesting to me is that in wally, and now little and mariona that's some very unique player profiles that you simply won't find a like-for-like replacement for - so it's inevitable imo that we have an open door to build something different

i find the wingers debate for awfc such an interesting one. i do agree with only being able to renew one of 9 & 19, not both and i think there are plenty of arguments for and against either option.
for me, based off 2025 as a whole, i'd lean towards keeping mead on a 1+1 for a few factors..

mariona just gives us so so much with her movement and playmaking that imo you just have to accept the occasional sloppy pass and costly giveaway cos the upside of what she brings is so much higher

rewatching the extended highlights on sky and genuinely do feel that as nervy as that was because the winner came so late, most times that same game ends up in a 3 or 4 goal win - team created a ton of good chances so do feel more positive now half a day has passed

love this as a concept, though i am really curious about the implications of potentially changing both full backs in a game given the limitations of 5 subs - given nighswonger hasn't featured at all, bringing in holmberg to play a meaningful rotation role will likely lead to another player falling

the 'untouchables' comment is probably the one i'd argue is debtable - and imo reflects more on issues with squad building and off-field dynamics than actual team selection.
because you can have preferences, and i do agree that some players are overburdened which makes them very difficult to take

my view on the athletic article is that just cos it's not surprising doesn't make it 'ok', though I think there's also that natural factor of these being underlying issues that can be glossed over at times when the team is on a winning run, but then as soon as things stall they really matter

really do enjoy tuning into MNF after a weekend where we've been really fucking good and therefore skysports have no choice but to provide some top quality analysis about how class an arsenal performance was 🤌 martinez and carragher doing a lovely job here

lwm can be such a frustrating player to watch tho, because i will root for her always, but there will always be at least 2-3 times a game where a pass under minimal pressure will be sent straight to an opposition attacker and risk cancelling out all her moments of great quality on the ball 😮💨

not perfect, but actually think i'm more encouraged than anything to see a 6.5-7/10 performance finally get converted into a much needed win.
also felt there were quite a few positives to take into the next block:
- CK finally looking more like herself, inc. being visibly annoyed at being subbed
