I can be naive. I blueskied — or whatever one does here — today's column to the @poetryfoundation.bsky.social, thinking they would, shit, re-bluesky it to their legions. Then checked. They have 109 followers, or 1/33rd of me. Someone is not doing their job.

Maybe you could start by not supporting the new Stalin...

The show trials were public. They call them "detention centers" now. Immigrants trying to work through the legal process are being terrorized, along with patriotic Americans who care about democracy and freedom. Just because you are oblivious doesn't mean everybody else is too.

The United States is having a show trial.

I read about those in history books about Stalin. It's like we're ticking off boxes. Gulags built? Check. Masked police sent to terrorize cities? Check. Opponents dragged into the dock on trumped up charges? Check. I think mass famine is next on the list.

Thanks, that's very kind. I'm trying. I sent a new proposal to the University of Chicago Press a few weeks ago. But they're not exactly champing at the bit to publish me again. I do really like this idea, and am hoping they bite. But hope is not a strategy.

Thanks. I always wondered who read it. 🥲

I don't refuse to report, or to consider, opinions I disagree with. I don't expect you to understand.
