i only dabble with vns so take what i say with a grain of salt, but; i would rather a vn be a vn instead of trying to poorly imitate a game, but if you make them skippable i guess its a non loss provided it doesnt take away from time or resources in making the vn better.

double agree. gameplay in a vn is usually to the detriment of the vn (exception being some that do puzzles like 999) and as a vanilla squish bean myself i dont like having to lose and be "redacted" to see the sex. i want consensual smut and it want it to be a reward for being good!

We didn't get this far as humans by relying on something else to do all of our creative thinking. AI doesn't inherently understand the things we ask it, its an amalgamation of what it thinks we want. How can that spawn any new ideas? It can't. There is no individuality behind it.
