P1: A little one-eyed robot lies in a bed, tucked under a floral pattern quilt. Two scientists stand in the background, looking confused. The older one on the left, holding a tablet device in his left hand, says "I... I don't understand..."

P2: Close up on the scientists, as the older one says "I didn't program them to be capable of sleep, see?" as he hands the tablet over to the younger scientist. The latter looks down at the tablet with a look of bemusement, as he says "HUH. And they even..."

P3: The older interjects with "INDEED. I switched them on, and they immediately constructed a bed..." The younger guy raises the tablet for a closer look, with obvious shock on his face.

P4: Closeup on the robot, looking utterly snug and content. The older scientist finishes with "...then they just crawled right in. That was two weeks ago."

A four panel comic, with each panel being narrow, while filling the height of the page. Each panel shows a serene looking scene, with fluffy clouds filling the skies in each.

The first panel starts with a caption box which reads "This too--," while the fourth panel ends on "--shall pass."

A page from my comic "Land of NOJ," which was published in The Phoenix. Way too much to describe here. It's basically a kind of choose your own adventure comic, where the reader makes their way along either a red or blue path to try and make it to a good ending.

The setup is that a character called Suze is obsessed with games, so she uses a six-sided die to make a decision. The reader also requires a die to make their way through the comic.

I can't draw cars

A comic strip.
A man and a woman in a red 2 door car, the characters are hand drawn, but the car is a photograph that has been cut out.
The man says "heh- look, the artist who drew this comic can't draw cars so he used a photo."

Switching sides now to focus on the woman in the driver's seat (the photo of the car has been flipped, if you finely comb the image you'll notice the steering wheel has changed sides also), the woman says "shut up, pointing stuff like that out isn't clever -'oh that's so meta'- it's not smart, it's lazy and easy.
It's been done to death. How about not being a coward and trying to say something personal and meaningful."

The car crashes into a ditch, signified by the photo being cut in half jaggedly. The car is now a different model entirely, a soft top convertible, where it was previously it was a hard top.
The man says "ok, well making a 'meta' joke while trying to make it look like you're couching it in criticism is still doing it, but making excuses. Why not enjoy it?
Oh hey, the car's changed."
The woman replies "shut the fuck up."

P1: A window set in a brick wall, its angles all Dutch. Stood before it on the inside of the building --hands against the pane-- is everyone's favourite absolute goblin of a dracula: Nosferatu!

He is staring at us, his lizard-like eyes wide, while his frowning mouth --slightly ajar-- displays a single sharp buck tooth

P2: Nose's eyes open wider, taking on a tall squished oval shape. His mouth bunches up --but does not close-- in horror. His clawed hands move to his right; the left held limply over his chest, while the right is held up and to the top right of his head.

He thinks to himself "ACK! Those neighbours think I'm staring at them..."

P3: In the same position as the previous panel, Nose begins to move to this right, his right hand now slightly out of the frame of the window, and obscured by the outside wall. He thinks "act casual"

P4: Moving further to his right --his right arm now completely out of view-- he continues "Act. Casual."

P5: the window is now empty--

P6: --only for Nose to peek up from the bottom left (our bottom left, mind) of the window, only his wide eyes visible.

WOW! The European Parliament just voted to BAN the words 'burger' and 'sausage' when used in sustainable plant-based alternatives. HUGE win for the meat and dairy lobby in the EU, and lots more confusion for consumers if this goes through. Insane!

Yikes. Just got a message from my child’s school: some children’s books by Andrew Cope (inc. Spy Dogs, Spy Cats, and Spy Pups series) have a printed URL at the back. This used to go to the author’s website, but now goes to an “adult content” site.

So, yeah… be careful with that URL 😳

Well, I've been doing professional comic work for the past six years or so thanks to putting my art out there on social media. In fact, I'm just finishing up a day of colouring as I type this.

So, yep. Social media can be a horror show, but I wouldn't be where I am professionally without it.

On to season two of Severance, and I don't know if it's because I'm just off a rewatch of season one, but I have a baaaaad feeling about this one.

It's still good, but it's giving me a very "Lost season two" feeling, and that has me worried.
