Reader. Obsessively so. Oh, and I have a bit of an obsession with Dutch things. But please don’t ever make me smell patchouli.

I am giddy as Anne and Diana are at a bar in Brooklyn and run into Gilbert ALREADY in chapter 1.
The Kindle over of the book Anne of Manhattan by Brina Starler has a green background. There is a New York skyline. A redheaded woman is looking to the left and below her is a dark haired man looking in the other direction.

Dear #BookSky,

Why did none of you tell me there’s a modern retelling of Anne of Green Gables?! This seems an oversight of immense proportions. I may need time with my bosom friends to process this blissful information.

Your devoted pal,
Nell

If Trump and his federal agents make me have sympathy for the Chicago Police Department, I know he’s capable of anything.

Yes. Thank you for doing that, but B&T is the source for libraries, B&N, and independent bookstores. They get the books from the publisher to the next level then to us readers.

This is huge news for people who love books & libraries. We should be talking about the fact that there’s one less book distributor in the world & it’s a huge one. Amazon wants you to stop getting your books & audiobooks from libraries. When libraries have fewer options for books, we all lose.

Just finished this. Thoughts:

1) Highlights how very easy it is for men to miss when other men are harassing women, esp in systems which protect power

2) Sometimes romance novels contain crucial observations about the patriarchy and those healing from its harms.

Book cover of "One on One" by Jamie Harrow. Shows white male and female figures standing on a basketball court covered in confetti.

Thank you for reading and showcasing this book. As someone who spent time in collegiate athletics, I found it so accurate about how easy things are brushed over and how often people look away, especially with men who are to be admired or respected. This is an important book. Thanks again!

It’s also about their vendetta against HFCS. The garbage JFK Jr spews about it directly impacts corn growers.

My review of OTHER PEOPLE’S HOUSES by Clare Mackintosh is on IG & SG. DC Ffion Morgan is investigating a murder of a realtor. DS Leo Brady investigates burglaries in a posh neighborhood. The world is consumed by a true crime podcast. Could they be related? I love Ffion & hope there will be more! ⚡️📚💙
Kindle cover of the book OTHER PEOPLE’S HOUSES by Clare Mackintosh shows an outdoor swimming pool with lawn furniture and decorative trees.

I saw Dr. Oz say Americans are too fat & weak to have a functioning military. (I’m paraphrasing.) And I thought, man, Americans love being in sub/abusive relationships. See, this is what we get for being brainwashed into believing we are all “wretches” because we had to sing Amazing Grace on Sunday.

There is clearly something wrong with me because so many people seem to love it, but I think about the great romance I have read and even some of the mediocre romance, and this is as if someone generated a romance from a list of criteria. Awful.

Other people talk about how much they loved it, but I was offended by its triteness.
