Except for the stoned part, the EXACT thing happened to me and my father prepping for his hip surgery last February. DR said he needed a cardiac assessment when he had one the previous week.
I stood up (I'm 6'6" 250lbs), looked down on the DR, and said, WE ARE NOT LEAVING WITHOUT A SURGERY DATE.
