My husband told his coworkers he "babysits" our kids and I finally lost it this happened yesterday and I'm still shaking I work from home three days a week. my husband works in an office. we have two kids, 4 and 7. yesterday I had back-to-back video calls all afternoon for a project deadline and my husband was home because he left work early for a dentist appointment around 4pm I'm on a call with my camera off, muted, trying to finish up. I can hear my husband in the kitchen with his coworker who apparently stopped by to drop something off. they're talking and I hear his coworker say something like "oh man you're on kid duty today?" and my husband laughs and goes "yeah I'm babysitting this afternoon so the wife can work" babysitting our children IG & Threads: @ask_aubry I finished my call. walked into the kitchen. his coworker left like two minutes later and I just stood there staring at him he could tell something was wrong and he's like "what?" and I said "you babysit our kids?" he got defensive immediately. "it's just a phrase, don't be weird about it" and something in me just snapped I asked him if he knew what our daughter's teacher's name is. he didn't. I asked him when our son's last dentist appointment was. he didn't know. I asked him what size shoes either of them wear. he guessed wrong on both. I asked him when they last had checkups, what their friends' names are, what our daughter is allergic to, what time they go to bed on school nights he got one right. bedtime. because he's usually home by then IG & Threads: @ask_aubry then I asked him what I do when I'm "not working." I asked him to list my tasks on a regular day. he said "you know, the usual stuff. cleaning and whatever" I pulled up my phone and read him my calendar. pediatrician appointments. dentist. parent teacher conferences. school pickups. grocery planning. meal prep. the mental load of knowing we're out of milk and someone needs new cleats and there's a birthday party on saturday that needs a gift. playdates organize. forms I fill out. emails I send to teachers. scheduling their activities. buying their clothes when they outgrow things. tracking their developmental milestones. remembering to book their annual checkups six months in advance because the good doctors book up he just stared at me I told him he doesn't babysit his own children. he parents them. or he's supposed to. but what he actually does is show up for the fun parts and then acts like he's doing me a favor when I need to work @ask_aubry he said I was being ridiculous and he does plenty around the house. I asked him to name one thing he does without me asking him to do it or reminding him. he couldn't. I haven't spoken to him since last night. he thinks I'm overreacting. he texted me this morning saying "we need to talk about your attitude" my attitude.... I've been doing this for seven years. seven years of being the default parent while he gets to be the fun dad who "helps out" and gets praised for doing the bare minimum. and I never realized how angry I was about it until he called it babysitting I don't even know what I'm asking here. I just needed to tell someone who might understand that I'm not crazy for being this angry IG & Threads: @ask_aubry

Advice Needed So, this is a bit of a mess, and I'm honestly torn about whether I did the right thing. Here's the situation: I (27F) have been with my boyfriend, Mark (29M), for about three years. We've had our ups and downs, but I thought we were in a really good place. Recently, my best friend, Rachel (28F), got married, and I was her maid of honor. It was a huge deal for her, and I was super excited to be by her side. The wedding was beautiful, everything went smoothly, and Mark was with me as my plus-one. We were having a great time dancing, laughing, just enjoying the night. But then, during the reception, Mark did something completely unexpected. So, Rachel and her new husband were dancing their first dance, and Mark was acting kind of off, which I chalked up to him just being nervous. Then, out of nowhere, he pulls me aside and says he wants to "talk" to me privately. We step out to a quieter area, and he's suddenly telling me that he doesn't feel "ready for this kind of commitment." Like, we've been talking about getting engaged for a while, and I was under the impression we were on the same page, but now he's telling me that he doesn't think he's ready for marriage right there, at my best friend's wedding. I try to stay calm and ask him what he's talking about, and he says it's not just about me, but that he's not sure about the whole "forever" thing. He's just "having doubts" in general. This was coming out of nowhere, and I was shocked. I told him I needed some space and walked back inside to be with my friends. I honestly just felt embarrassed at that point. It wasn't the right time or place for that conversation, and it really put a damper on the night. Later on, I tried to talk to him about it again, but he kind of just brushed it off, saying it wasn't a big deal and that he'd "sort himself out." Long story short, after thinking about it for a few days, I ended things with him. I told him that if he wasn't sure about us, I couldn't keep putting myself in a situation where I'm always uncertain of where we stand. Now, some of my friends are telling me I overreacted, that maybe he just got caught up in the moment or was feeling anxious about the future. But I don't know this felt like a huge red flag for me. It wasn't just the timing, but the fact that he had doubts he didn't bring up until then. So, AITA for ending things after that?
