Going under the knife this morning for hiatal hernia repair, and I'm quite nervous. I've only had minor procedures before, so it's pretty scary. Keep a good thought for me!

Have you ever read a book that had character names that irritated you? I just read The Matchmaker by Elin Hilderbrand. I love escaping to Nantucket with her, but her character names are prissy and irritating. Dabney, Clendenin, Agnes, Box, Celerie, (like the vegetable).

Haircut tomorrow! I'm so tempted to go short, but the specter of Thelma Harper lives in my brain. The humidity here is so bad that I look like Hagrid on a good day and a yeti on a bad one. My grays are like steel wool, and a short cut might make me look a box of Brillo.

It was 83 here today, with 82% humidity, which means my hair will still be wet from my morning shampoo at bedtime. I'm not adept with hair dryer techniques, so air drying saves me from cotton candy hair. It's really gotten gray. Oh well...

Bit my lip about 2 months ago. Keep biting the same spot every few days. I was eating ice cream and bit hard enough to get blood. Wah! What a pain.

Heading home from our beach trip. I wonder how much longer we'll be going there. The heat really does a number on both of us, not to mention carrying all the equipment on the sand. My body has really aged the last few years. Dammit...

Maizie has been here for 6 months, and today, I saw her snuggling with Simon. There's been some alpha dog moments between her and Maxwell, but even they are starting to interact more.
We're boarding them instead of taking them on vaca, and I'm hoping they're not traumatized, but care for each other.

It's lymph nodes rather than appendix. She might come home later today.

I slept 12 hours after our 4y old grandson stayed for 3 days. I wish his energy was contagious because I'm exhausted! We have 2 days of hard rain headed our way, so that will give me reason to stay in and relax.

Metallica is playing at Va Tech tomorrow night. It took 88 semi-truckloads of equipment to set up. Schools are dismissing early. People shopped today to avoid going out tomorrow. This town is busy enough on game days, but this is a whole different level of craziness.

A core memory was unlocked for me today. Since I was a kid, I have loved sitting with my big sister Debbie while she's putting on her makeup. It's muscle memory for her. She doesn't even have to stop her line of conversation when she's doing her eyeliner!
