As 2025 comes closer to an end, I become reflective. Happy I had a lovely year. I was awarded an F31, got to participate in Brain Day '25, learned more coding, mentored more students, road tripped to Utah, and saw two lovely shows at the Guthrie with Ajla. Excited to see what the future holds!

Ajla and I watched the Nuremberg movie last night. It was a harrowing reminder of how evil humans can become, and how those events can unfold anywhere if society allows it. I highly recommend watching it.

I agree with everything here.. Except for a lab being this tiddy
This is a room where we turn very modest salaries and budgets (and lots of coffee) into new knowledge, life-saving innovations, and technology that feeds business growth.

It's literally the loom that spins hay into gold but these numpties are suddenly worried about the cost of hay.

Whenever you hear someone sneer about scientific research that seems useless to them — “they’re studying the spit of lizards?!” — remind them that’s exactly how we got Ozempic.

Surgeons in Boston successfully transplanted the kidney of a genetically modified pig into a 66-year-old man with kidney failure last month, Massachusetts General Hospital announced. It's the fourth transplant of its kind in the U.S., and is part of a new clinical trial sanctioned by the FDA.
