5) schools to help "troubled" children, costs 55k/year and tells you how to file an IDEA suit to pay for it, explicably 2% matriculation at any college

"Groucho Marx and Alice Cooper were good friends who hung out when they couldn't sleep" is one that's always messed with my sense of people's locations in time.

Damn, right when Jojo left his home there.

To me this is like going to a Chinese restaurant and asking "how is rice restaurant food"? It's a tasty accompaniment for a number of foods that are restaurant food, but you're not paying for the skill with which it got made.

I'm complaining a bit; in particular, the magick meter never feels like a thing you can meaningfully take into account and manage/ration while in combat, you just either have it or you don't.

(I also don't think the sister blades are fun to use, but that's taste.)

I think the problem is partly the opposite: Hades had what looked like a clear sightline to a goal that you would press towards, but then it opened up a world. 2 began with too many plot hooks in front of you but no path to the end.

That said, I think I liked the ending more than a lot of people.

Briefly read this as about Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas and I think I also agree there.

To be fair I don't believe the limits Lawsome is discussing are "no more than three books."

Unfortunately the height limits are federal law. Height of Buildings Act of 1910.

Always reminds me of the professor I had in law school who explained to us that Windsor was wrong because she understood some people felt strongly about gay rights, but she felt just as strongly about choice of law principles.

I kind of can’t believe this Bari Weiss quote is even real, and yet www.nytimes.com/2025/10/06/b...
“I know that there are some people in this room who don’t believe that my marriage should have been legal … and that’s ok. Because we’re all Americans who want lower taxes.”

Look maybe you're both weird about this lovely bookstore that is nevertheless significantly farther from your homes than makes sense to do bulk shopping at.

You do live in New York City where books are readily available.

The answer to Chick-fil-A discourse and Baby It's Cold Outside discourse is the same, which is that we should avoid them for being a bad chicken sandwich and a bad song before we get to any of the deeper questions.

(You AND unhoused people are also tired of the government not providing anywhere for the unhoused to escape from the public eye.)

Literally just "a few things I've read or reread recently and enjoyed a whole lot," and happy to say the whole series fits the bill!

Read this post too early after waking up and forgot about retirement accounts so I spent a while wondering why you had specifically $410,000.00.

I appreciate the sentiment and I think it's accurately placed here but I can say from experience that sometimes the person who says that is about to stab you with scissors he smuggled out of the art room.

This is just not true and, frankly, hurtful.

(The Black Rose arc DOES have a twist ending: i.e., an ending that reveals a core thing has not been what it seemed. The end of the show reveals that [REDACTED] THINKS the world works differently than we'd believed, but the final outcome is what it is precisely because we HAVEN'T been mistaken.)
