It has been 210 years since the Battle of Waterloo. Records indicate that Arthur Wellesley, The Duke of Wellington, had no idea he had masterminded the inspiration behind ABBA's start on the path to worldwide fame.

If you take the points each act gets from the public as they get awarded, you can (surely) work out how many points are left for that last score.

No?

10 person queue for prescriptions at Boots.

Ten.

A number that no-one is enjoying here.

Not One.

That's the fraction of goals scored by direct free kick by Declan Rice this evening for Arsenal against Real Madrid.

I know it's not cool, but I'm actually doing a practice maths paper whilst having a pint in The Globe on Bartholomew Street.
96%!
I forgot to round the answer on one question.
Round? Oh thanks mate, mine's a pint.

I'm on my own.

Working with one home-schooled student to deal with their flustered, and sometimes panicked, response to even the mildest of maths questions. Today, they managed to recognise when this was happening to them - on their own! Enormous progress in learning how to learn.

Today would have been Michael Bond's 99th birthday.

Of those flats, none of them would have been 'affordable accommodation'.

First tutoring session of 2025.

This Tutee deserves to get their GCSE.

Motivated, instinctive, hard-working. Doesn't always extract the right information from the question.

Tends to pick up the calculator too early.

I have a plan.

Past papers that one of my Tutees has completed during the Christmas break. Three of them.

It would be an honour to mark them.

5,900

…alphanumeric characters were used in my latest progress report to the new teachers of a Tutee of mine who wants to reintegrate into mainstream school.

I'm going to call it a character reference.

25² is 625.

Shove that in your pencil case and zip it.

⅙π² is a very interesting number. Why? Well, because…

1÷1² + 1÷2² + 1÷3² + 1÷4² + … etc etc (ad infinitum) = ⅙π²

It's interesting but it's not going to end the war in Ukraine in a day.

855.

Or 0855. 8.55am. This is when the school doors open for my son, Destructoboy.

Good luck, School.

Learn the square numbers up to, say, 30².

Just do it. Go on.

The Number 1,086.

Or "ten eighty-six". 1086 was the year that the church of St Nicolas was founded in Newbury.

Officially.

I mean, it didn't just suddenly appear by the river there. Must have been some sort of religious meeting place already, surely?

Amen.
