What is a "next" steader? It's a term I made up that plays off of homesteading. However, instead of trying to return to some bygone simpler area, nextsteading is a way of living that attempts to adapt to, prepare for, and survive the negative impacts of climate change that are coming to us.

Personally, I've been trying to figure out how to cultivate and build more shaded places on my property, to encourage outside play but not let my kiddo get roasted all the time.

Happily, I've recently been seeing a lot more people and children deciding to cover up (long sleeves, hats) in the sun than in my childhood. I'm glad that the sun protection messaging is coming across. #skincancer #uav
