Waiting for the next team to breakthrough. Nats, Caps, Hokies, Commanders and Mystics mostly.

With the death of Twitter I decided I wanted to stop outsourcing everything I say about sports to social media and pick up blogging again. I set up a new site and while it'll probably be mostly Nats as the you finally get more interesting, I'll be doing some Caps, Hokies, Commies, Mystics, etc. too.

To celebrate the new site, I actually wrote something about the Nats! On how the Nats might perceive themselves: nextyeardc.com/post/AreTheN...

And now to seamlessly pivot from rooting against Kershaw to rooting for the Phillies to blow this in hilarious fashion

Sorry Phillies we never taught Bryce how to run the bases

I'm going to miss playoff Kershaw

My 30+ baseball league has one 70 year old who pitches and throws maybe 55 MPH. It's hilarious seeing the new guys every year try to figure out how to hit him.

It's also funny because he's had scoreless innings before, but he's so bad usually every one seems novel.

It can be good if they truly unleash the train travel to be like s1-10 plane travel.

Yeah especially since ownership is certainly limiting the number of hires they'll make in the front office. They can't waste any of those spots on someone who won't contribute to the new order of business.

"Ohhhh I should hit the baseball. I get it now." - the Tigers apparently

Interesting why not?

Damn he's that afraid of what the investigation UNC will conduct to try to fire him for cause to avoid a buyout will make public?

Per sources: Bill Belichick has discussed buyout options with North Carolina’s hierarchy. Belichick has signaled a willingness to trigger his own $1 million buyout if he can find a soft landing with another team or in media

I have a new post today breaking down the three candidates I saw come up most frequently as answers to my Choose Your New Nats Manager quiz. One former manager, one coach in waiting and one former player. nextyeardc.com/post/ChooseY...

I for one would not start the pitcher whose soul left his body in the fifth inning today

The Toronto Blue Jays will start Louis Varland on the mound in Game 4 of the ALDS vs. Yankees.

I guess points to them for truth in advertising

ChatGPT has an ad where they plan a road trip for a guy and his sister that includes four activities: visiting three small towns in Georgia around the Blue Ridge Mountains and then driving a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Parkway ends in North Carolina two hours away from those three towns.

Varland just went full Kershaw. Never go full Kershaw.

I'm literally wearing my shirt right now.

Yeah although those at least have source material to improve from

Yeah they are similarly grander in later sequels

A pretty good list which has me thinking of the opposite. What are the worst movies that are improved through a good franchise? I'd have to think The Fast and the Furious is near the top of the list.

I would guess that Phillies fans are particularly prone to this after the 2013-15 debacle.

Albert Haynesworth would be embarrassed by Chris Jones's effort here.

Trevor Lawrence, falls, gets back up, and runs it in for the go-ahead touchdown. 😂
