With the death of Twitter I decided I wanted to stop outsourcing everything I say about sports to social media and pick up blogging again. I set up a new site and while it'll probably be mostly Nats as the you finally get more interesting, I'll be doing some Caps, Hokies, Commies, Mystics, etc. too.

To celebrate the new site, I actually wrote something about the Nats! On how the Nats might perceive themselves: nextyeardc.com/post/AreTheN...
Are The Nats Supposed to Be Good?

Yeah I don't know what they were thinking there

I don't think he did but I know they've been defining that pretty generously lately

It cannot be a hit by pitch if he is offering to bunt. That's the one thing this cannot be.

A Mariners fan started it when the M’s were on the road in Toronto in the 2002 playoffs. Although he was in T-Mobile in Seattle at a watch party. Put a Birkenstock on his head and they cut away and showed him on the video screen. Rally shoe legend created. No need for Twitter.

It's Tork Torkelson right?

Adam Amin revealing AJ Hinch doesn't even know Spencer Torkelson's name. Unbelievable.

If that passed ball is the margin the catching traditionalists are going to lose it over that block attempt

Yeah the stats have to be in service of furthering understanding of the game, not just snapple lid facts

We're due for an inning where both teams score the same number of runs

baseball is the best preparation for death because it does not come with a clock that tells you when your suffering will end one way or the other

The worst part of the playoffs is all the fans parachuting in who don't know these guys like the real fans do!

Because even though they're not always right you can hear how much they actually care about the game unfolding before them

Wainwright and Pierzynski are so much better in the booth than John Smoltz that it should be considered a crime to employ the latter

Smart throw to second by Torres, Robles would get caught by that

Props to whatever Fox production guy fixed the extra commercial mistake just in time

If every pitcher throws sliders that has to create some sort of familiarity penalty right?
nextyeardc.com
You needed that second Rivas at-bat to properly convey how unbelievable it was he got a hit the first time

Amin doing an all-time great job of slipping in biography notes for each hitter in case they're the one who wins it

Hey this is probably why you let your ace throw more than 100 pitches every once in a while in the regular season so he has some concept of how to pace it
nextyeardc.com
How many pitches before he's equivalent to Kyle Finnegan? 120?
