Nationals announce they've claimed RHP Paxton Schultz off waivers from Blue Jays. 28-year-old made 13 appearances for Toronto last season (4.38 ERA, 1.419 WHIP). Originally a starter, has been mostly multi-inning reliever last few years at AAA.

40-man roster is once again full.

Nationals announce they’ve requested unconditional release waivers for RHP Sauryn Lao to pursue an opportunity in Japan. That reduces the 40-man roster to 39.

The Nationals and Cade Cavalli filed for arbitration: $900,000 vs. $825,000, per @bnightengale.bsky.social. They're still free to negotiate and settle on their own before going to a hearing prior to spring training.

Nationals announce they've agreed to terms on 2026 contracts with CJ Abrams, MacKenzie Gore and Jake Irvin, avoiding arbitration with all three. Still have until 8 p.m. to work out deals with Luis Garcia Jr. and Cade Cavalli before filing for arbitration.

Nationals have announced the hiring of Jason Sinnarajah as president of business operations, a new position at the same level of president of baseball operations Paul Toboni. Was previously Royals’ COO and Bills’ senior VP of business administration.

Nationals have claimed OF Joey Wiemer off waivers from Giants (who recently DFA'd him), source confirms. (Robert Murray of FanSided was first.)

Soon-to-be 27-year-old has career .638 OPS in 180 games with MIL/CIN/MIA, plays CF. His acquisition fills Nats' 40-man roster for now.

The Nationals' MLB coaching staff is now officially full. Only new name who hadn't previously been revealed is asst. hitting coach Shawn O'Malley, 37, who had been Mariners' AAA hitting coach last 2 seasons.

Paul Toboni and Ani Kilambi just completed a Zoom session with reporters. They only started talking 2 weeks ago about the GM position, so it came together really quick. Toboni praised Kilambi's combination of knowledge/humility: "He's an exceptional fit for us."
