Way Back Wednesday: I used this Kodak model Super-8 film camera to shoot stop motion animated films in the 1980s. Dad bought in Germany before deployment to Vietnam. The cartridge held enough film for 2 minutes and 40 seconds of footage. Ran on AA batteries. Hours and hours of fun.

When researching for the novel MORE ARGONAUTS, I found it useful to sketch out certain items to help me visualize things like period-accurate clothing and vessels.

I think this is the same hawk I met last week. Hunting outside my house for mice, shrews, and moles. She may be a red-tailed hawk.

Winner is...

Must have come from Half Price Books, since this the UK Picador edition, where they cut books like slabs of metric wood.

A fluffy, lite, joyous tale of Appalachia, I reckon.

THE CROSSING -
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 1/2

Billy Parham is a flawed and possibly unlikable protag. What starts as a mystical coming of age turns into a wander through myth and anguish. A deeply sad epic.

I guess I did get the HC boxed set for The Passenger & Stella Maris. This wasn't as well reviewed and can be found pretty cheap. But it will grow more expensive like Sutree (also not as well reviewed), where the HC is prohibitively expensive. Even PBs are going up in price.

Latest former library copy pickups. Both by Padraic Colum and illustrated by Willy Pogany. Nicer editions include full-color plates, but I love these specifically for the elegant ink line drawings.

Oh boy, if there was ever a grail piece made specifically for my library, it would be this. I'll just go scrounge under the couch cushions for change. I'm sure there's an extra 400 USD laying around here somewhere...

My latest acquired library copy of a classic illustrated book. Just floored by this note pasted to the inside cover. Soft heads only at this "college." The book? The Children of Odin: The Book of Northern Myths. 1962 ed., originally published 1920.
