The specimen itself originates from Minas Gerais, Brazil, a state famous for its tourmalines, so much so that there’s actually a city called Turmalina—Brazilian Portuguese for "tourmaline".

This beautiful 213.8 ct elbaite tourmaline has been in our Gem & Mineral Collection since 1966, purchased from the Martin L. Ehrmann Co., from whom we acquired numerous specimens over the years.
