you see a comic book issue on the rack and the expectation isn’t that you’ve read every single issue before it. most comics are (and should!) be written to stand alone even if it is issue #347 or whatever

absorb yourself in a narrative and follow the ideas created by the author and artists

comic books are a creative storytelling medium where intention is necessary

comics cannot be read “passively” and require intuitive thought to create and to read. comics don’t operate in a space where people want brief summaries. they exist as snapshots of stories to become fully invested in

to be blatantly transparent, if not slightly irreverent- since doing things like “journaling” and “limiting social media use” and “thinking intentionally” i’ve been disillusioned with (gestures) all this.
