He’s not wrong… We are taking products off the table with height restrictions, not sure if it’s obtainable housing being taken off the table though.

I accidentally stole a car from Beaman Toyota back during Covid.

Doublecheck the VIN on the paperwork and the car, don’t trust the car dealership to write down the correct numbers.
"Lee Beaman is an unacceptable candidate for the TVA Board of Directors, and we’re hopeful that his removal from the agenda today is a sign that the committee is taking a closer look and will ultimately halt his confirmation process," said Appalachian Voices in a statement.
Beaman’s TVA confirmation vote postponed in Senate panel • Tennessee Lookout
A Senate committee has postponed a vote on GOP-megadonor Lee Beaman's appointment to the Tennessee Valley Authority board.

Sometimes I get imposter syndrome

Sometimes I receive emails from people managing multi-million dollar projects and suddenly the imposter syndrome goes away

If they can be so wrong and still so confident, then so can I!

There’s a house in Fort Payne, AL where multiple trucks have crashed. The owner (Joe) built a substantial wall to protect his house/property. Locals affectionately refer to Joe’s house/wall as Joe’s Truck Stop.

Unfortunately, it didn’t help and the state decided it was cheaper to buy his house.
I'm cool with that one person being involved.

When I was at TDOT we had a street safety project in Chattanooga where a guy's house had been run into multiple times.

He'd spent $10k on boulders & had to get a State Senator involved before they put a steel guardrail in front of his home.

Whatever you call them - detached unit, DADU, carriage house, back house, mother-in-law suite - we - the Metro Council - just made them legal over one of the physically largest urban areas in the lower 48.

It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t always fun, and we have more to go.

But we’re doing it.

We’re aware that a map is just going to shade the entire transect, right? It’s not going to highlight individual properties…

A regulatory issue in metro that makes fewer accessible townhomes is every SP that requires an 18” raised foundation guarantees the townhouse will have steps to the front door or in the garage.
How to kill accessible buildings while trying to make more buildings accessible.

No one is allowed to talk politics, housing or traffic while there’s an aurora occurring.

Sorry, that’s just the rules.

There are Tennessee Coneflower seeds and Milkweed seeds at the Hermitage Library coneflower bed. This is the time of year native seeds need to be planted!

Some really interesting (and somewhat economically feasible) pre-cast litter and trash devices coming out now for in-line storm sewer designs.

“Since 1970, the metros where housing stock grew the least relative to population growth — think LA, San Francisco, San Diego or Seattle — saw some of the fastest home price growth. While metros that built enough housing…, saw home prices rise much less rapidly, even as their populations soared.”
We could never say with too much confidence if we’d really paid more for our homes than our grandparents had, after inflation, or which cities had the hottest housing markets in the past century.

The Department of Data might have the answer. https://wapo.st/4nAYy4N

Yellowhammer carrying an article even mildly critical of Trump’s tariffs is surprising! Sounds like US forestry is taking a hit/having trouble navigating the tariffs: yellowhammernews.com/ledbetter-so...

Probably the last of the Tennessee Coneflowers blooms at the Hermitage Library. Really surprised there were any blooms the first year, so this many blooms is a promising start!

Perhaps the most annoying infrastructure issue in Metro Nashville has to be sewer capacity. MWS doesn’t plan until lines need to be over 15”, they don’t really account for new zoning, the state doesn’t allow sewer impact fees, and MWS can only require improvements based on your specific development.

FYI for how much a required tree survey cost for an 80 acre subdivision project in Metro…

I’m all for saving trees, but you don’t need a $40k tree survey to do that… or tell you how many to replant…
