RIP Edward Leamer.

These two papers shaped my approach to empirical work.

My PhD training occurred when my field was "discovering" what Leamer said 30 years earlier in the 1983 paper.

Leamer's 2010 paper was prescient: methods didn't improve, but people learned the magic words to say.
