I mean, he still talks about the word, the word! "groceries" as a weird old thing.
The media, Dems, have been absolutely terrible at really highlighting how much of a doddering old idiot he is.

Being relatively young when the the first Pirates film came out, I was a bit befuddled about the cursed treasure. That's because I wasn't super familiar with Disneyland's and grew up riding Florida's over and over. #WEDReads

Based on all we know of Western River Expedition, do you think it was a worthy followup to Pirates? #WEDReads

Also on the subject of Gothic Pirates and the American gothic tradition, I have long found it odd how often it gets ignored. European Gothic we see all the time, American gothic (not the painting) gets relatively little representation in a lot of ways. #WEDReads

Cosmic Rewind has to remind people of the movie, while not acknowledging so much of the reason the events happened. So it has to try to inform people who have never seen this movie, yet have fan service "remember this guy who died in the movie?" And it just doesn't work. #WEDReads

On pg 158 @foxxnolte.bsky.social talks about how since Pirates are essentially a known entity, it gets rid of the need for exposition. I instantly thought about modern attractions, Cosmic Rewind in particular that trips over itself to try to remind guests about events of a movie. #WEDReads

I liked how most people working on the project were a bit hesitant that Pirates were appropriate for Disneyland, and yet... #WEDreads

There is also now a restaurant on Sullivan's Island called Poes tavern, whose entrance is graced by a goldbug in tile. #wedreads

Also, on a personal note, I went to school for half a year on Sullivan's Island, where Poe was stationed and largely seen as the inspiration for "The Goldbug." Most illustrations have large cliffs and massive trees. Sullivan's Island is....not that. #wedreads

One of the things I found interesting was that the "gothic pirate" was almost abandoned for a very long time, at least in the public consciousness. Almost being re-infused into popular culture through POTC. #WEDREADS

It was a "sometimes we watch this on VHS" movie when I was younger. But I didn't make the Stone connection until I was much older.

among other things: TN-07, the Congressional district that voted today, is the result of gerrymandering - Nashville, which used to have its own congressman, was split into thirds, and TN07 contains one of the thirds. The rest of it is rural.
