A nice idea...! Was this year's very dry spring predicted @amulyachevuturi.bsky.social...?

But why not call it 'sensitivity to carbon doubling' or something that makes at least some sense to the public?
My perception is we're in a very scary place, but the public really doesn't get how serious it is.
At the end of the day people vote knowing the views of those they elect.
Why...?

'Specifically the graph shows Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity (ECS) which is the temperature we'd eventually hit if we doubled the CO2 concentration.'
That's the sentence that explains it!
I fully agree, I have run @EGU sessions on 'how the heck did we get here, when we knew where we were headed?'

Thanks very much for the swift response. It does indeed seem crazy, but how does this translate to the very interesting looking graph..?

What, in layman's terms does this mean?
I think it needs an explanation for non-climate scientists.....!

Thanks Kit!
Key messages:
- Huge potential for satellite sensing for hydrology
- EO data under-used at present
- Rivers & floods my priority
- It's a long game (launches may be in 2040s...!)
- Drones a key component
- In-situ data vital for cal/val
- We can learn from commercial/small sats
