This kid should be everywhere. Probably doesn’t want to repeatedly relive this experience but he should be on every news show, every morning show. This is a direct action resulting from the president’s public racist rant against Somali Americans. The “peace president” gtfo
MINNEAPOLIS: “All I did was step outside as a Somali American citizen, and I got chased by a masked person, assaulted, kidnapped. It was inhumane. If this is what’s happening to a 🇺🇸 citizen on camera, imagine what could happen to your loved ones.”

I think a lot of people interact with politics the way some people interact with pop culture. For ex, I had no idea there were three seasons of “The Lincoln Lawyer”

Was thinking about this watching the new Stranger Things episodes — the episode lengths are all over the place. Some eps are 55 minutes, others over an hour. Eps can feel meandering as a result. LOST clocked in at 42 minutes every week. The eps had a structure and specific beats to hit along the way
Also I am having nostalgia for well-crafted commercial break structure.

They needed Matthew Fox to be the linch pin but the whole cast is so good and fresh and believable.

Ahhh yes. Clinging to the shattered remains of their boat out in the middle of the ocean, their mission would be undeterred: we must deliver the drugs that… are… somewhere here… amongst the wreckage. Surely the drugs are fine

It’s so funny to think back to how buttoned-up and serious Merrick Garland had to be to avoid even the slightest appearance of partisanship and now the current Attorney General regularly goes on Hannity and has a laugh or two and we just move on

Trump dozes while Marco Rubio speaks to him directly next to him. Just insane optics.

I’ll be honest — it really did feel like they wrapped everything up at the end of season one of Stranger Things.

And from everything I’ve read about season 5, it sounds like the goal of season 5 is to explain why they kept going after season one

if the epstein files have the smoking gun of trump bluesky might crash at the euphemisms the new york times retrieves from arcane tomes to describe it; "engaging in bawdy acts," "accepting off-color invitations," "executing ribald errands" all on the table

Just absolutely insane that this was pushed, at first, by crazy QAnon maniacs because they thought it would only implicate Dems. Trump’s DOJ was hyping the release of the files when then they were told that Trump was basically in them more than anyone else and they tried to reverse course.
Breaking News: The House overwhelmingly voted to demand that the Justice Department release all files related to its investigation into the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Amazing thread
Everyone's missing potentially the most interesting thing about this order, which is the judge's finding that Halligan may have returned an indictment that was never presented to the jury

Media standards:

1) No Democratic scandal on par with Trump-Epstein, so it’d be biased and unfair to five it much attention.

2) Trump wouldn’t be shamed into resigning and his cult of personality wouldn’t abandon him, so Trump-Epstein wasn’t worth pursuing.

Way too many think that’s journalism.

Good job, Dems! All Republicans pretended to care about health care subsidies while the shutdown was ongoing, and then you caved. Then they remembered that they all hate Obamacare and had already voted to end the subsidies in the first place
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Been scrolling the other site to see the moderate takes and this one stands out mainly because it highlights how the Dem’s shutdown approach was flawed from the beginning. They made it about healthcare, which is basically the only issue Dems can agree on. This take is objectively true, sadly

I like how you can see the exact moment where everyone went, “oh jfc what did we do?” which was less than a month into Trump’s 2nd term. Good work everybody!
Trump at a -16 net approval rating among all adults now, per our average at @fiftyplusone.news, and flirting with dropping below 40% approval.

You would think that globally organized protests in response to your country’s government would encourage news outlets to document the root of the discontent but I guess that’s a little much to ask for
Newspapers still don’t understand how to cover protests.
