Was thinking about this watching the new Stranger Things episodes — the episode lengths are all over the place. Some eps are 55 minutes, others over an hour. Eps can feel meandering as a result. LOST clocked in at 42 minutes every week. The eps had a structure and specific beats to hit along the way
Also I am having nostalgia for well-crafted commercial break structure.
They needed Matthew Fox to be the linch pin but the whole cast is so good and fresh and believable.

Good job, Dems! All Republicans pretended to care about health care subsidies while the shutdown was ongoing, and then you caved. Then they remembered that they all hate Obamacare and had already voted to end the subsidies in the first place
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Been scrolling the other site to see the moderate takes and this one stands out mainly because it highlights how the Dem’s shutdown approach was flawed from the beginning. They made it about healthcare, which is basically the only issue Dems can agree on. This take is objectively true, sadly
