Our second publication, due on June 19th 2025, is SPECULATIVE FREQUENCIES, a new poetry collection from the wonderful Briony Hughes. In this invigorating new collection, Briony Hughes uses her experiences tracking bats through the Surrey Hills as a means to expand 'communication' beyond the human body. The bat as a cultural figure is small, blind, nocturnal, and occasionally sinister, but in Hughes' poems they become a medium through which to interrogate the most pressing issues of our time; what happens when we abandon concepts of human exceptionalism and see ourselves as animals existing with other animals within an ecosystem? In a book of innovative engagements with language and visuality, Hughes explores the enmeshment of humanity within the natural world, and finds a moving kinship with these exceptional, easily overlooked creatures. Speculative Frequencies will launch with an event at Housmans Radical Bookshop on 19/06/2025, where Briony will be joined by guest readers Sarah Westcott, Robin Boothroyd, and Redell Olsen. Tickets are available now and preorders for the book will go live very soon!

Not very effective. Puncture skin & replace the absence with nickel bronze from anxious thumbprints. Step into girl like lingerie a set with tasteful lace, baby blue like a sexy easter egg. Remove my sight and reveal I was fuckable all along.

A prose poem/concrete poem making a rectangle shape on a white background reading: The last home We left the play early. The last day before the start of secondary school. Dad told me off for slapping the seats, wanting to see the dust rise like smoke. Floating to the ceiling, dirtying the light. The doors hissed open and a stranger emerged. Approached with a stare that trickled down the neckline of my shirt. Unwrapped the skin from my bones. He held out his hand to my father and grinned. Gums like the flesh left on cherry pits. I closed my cardigan. Gazed at the seat. The filth beneath, festering.
