I will have to track down the reference (maybe Joy of Cooking?) but they are Dutch babies because they are “fat and golden.” Love stereotypes with my delicious breakfast, lol.

I'd look for Jack Prelutsky books. They may be a bit twee, I guess, but they were funny. Also, Scranimals (hopefully available at your local library) had my children in absolute wonder. We still talk about the "Lowly Potatoad." bookshop.org/p/books/scra...

Ok this is a long shot but did you ever see a series of shorts about a 3rd Gr class play about chocolate & the kid who has to play nougat goes postal? Maybe 2001-2005? I saw it at one of the Sick & Twisted.
