Its something i had to get used to after living in car-centric canada too.

But I love being on my bike. I just wish people would understand that us on bikes would like to not die, and not choke the skies of smoke.

I don’t even mind rainy day riding.

I live just outside amsterdam, and for one job, i had a bike at the station nearest the job, and would bike that last 2km, boss “here’s a tip: ride like you own the place.:D.”

I bike a LOT, to swim, shopping, to meetings, to train stations, take bike ON train and bike in other cities…..

you’re pedantic. most cities are cycleable to some degree.

This isn’t some university level thesis debate, you little antfucker.
December 14, 2025 at 2:03 PM
Yep. Biking in bft 6 headwinds on a overpass was a new flavor of challenge.
December 14, 2025 at 1:42 PM
But it didnt magically happen here in NL. Change is actually possible.

You’re quite the pedantic little fucker, aren’t you?

So if no one should bother cycling because it’s not suitably “cardio” enough, what say you of more drivers on the road?

Ahem. a good number of major cities are suitable for cycling as transport given their relative flatness.

Also been to lisbon, hong kong, shanghai, xi’an, london, paris, nyc, san francisco, seattle, vancouver, los angeles, toronto, jerusalem, tel aviv, atlanta, boston, yeah. Ive been nowhere. The only two that were not flat: lisbon and sf.

I live in the Netherlands.
December 14, 2025 at 9:01 AM
so we should just have more cars, since biking won’t meet metrics you approve of for health or exercise?

Its still active. no one needs to train for a triathlon, its cycling to do errands or go to work.
December 14, 2025 at 8:55 AM
average. my average is 5-20km a day.

some less, some more. but its not like we’re only allowed to bike 2.6km a day.
December 14, 2025 at 8:51 AM
yes, because every other city in the world is….wait, aside from maybe lisbon,….pretty damn flat.

even in lisbon, saw cyclists tho, make of that what you will.

many of the side streets and so in my dutch city are also 1car wide and have a shared dual way, and share with cyclists.

its not impossible, if drivers changed their mindset from “all for me” to “for everyone”.

i would say a human anus is of more benefit and joy than trump.

And probably spews less shit than trump.

Which…is vaguely horrifying now that I put it that way.

its one thing i don’t miss about TO. Here, drivers are…extremely attentive, in my experience, and the driver licencing is also rigorous.

Still, to my former TO self, having a zaans city bus politely creeping behind me on a shared section of road, its a bit unnerving.
