Framing the argument as 'good versus evil' really doesn't help genuine debate of the pros and cons.

Very impressive performance on German TV tonight. People here in Germany, particularly AfD voters, need to know the truth about Putin‘s Russia.

You don’t commit to something then withdraw that commitment. If you’re looking to pay for services, tax wealth.

Communication could certainly have been better.

Quite the opposite. They have spent a lot of time and effort looking at traffic and development pressures across the city and concluded that the tram alone can resolve those issues on main arterial routes.

Would be interested to see what that looked like.

And no buses, bendy, electric, trolley or otherwise, are viable alternatives because they just can't provide the capacity and reliability required.

Never seen them in Scotland.

Without trams on arterial routes, the city is screwed in terms of climate targets, congestion and mobility. Would be nice if our elected representatives had political courage and thought to the future.

But electric buses are incapable of meeting the need. Trams alone can provide the capacity necessary - that’s precisely why the Council is promoting them.

We know that’s not how local protest campaigns work. My worry is the communities with most to gain in Drylaw, for example, will be left out of the debate.

I see only one. Orchard Brae + Dean Bridge is a non-starter and talk of options via Belford Bridge or Stockbridge are even more fanciful.

It's really important in particular that councillors and council officials are not led to believe that there is only opposition to these plans. The communities which will benefit most from this project risk not being heard merely because they are not as well organised as those against.
