Me and the boy have climbed a mountain already this morning.

'Tis the season to be touting the back catalogue. So, for starters, here's an idea for the indie fan in your life.

The Penderyn Prize-shortlisted Whatever Happened to the C86 Kids?, as read/enjoyed/loved by Richard Osman, the Manics, Stephen Morris and @nivenj1.bsky.social among others.

Thank you.

What makes you think I live in the sticks?

Possibly the reading matter in the local takeaway...

You want to know the best bargain in all this land's supermarkets?

Just back in from seeing Game, the film my mates Geoff, Marc and Rob (and a few others) have made. The boys done good! Very proud of them.

On general release from this Friday, but still plenty of screenings with post-film Q&As. Go see!

And here's Leeds yesterday, specifically the Corn Exchange, which is one of my favourite British buildings.

And it had a record fair yesterday (and today). And the book/card/magazine shop on the balcony had about four music books, one of which was one of mine. So that's another tick too.

Need something to read as the evenings darken and lengthen? Searching for Dexys Midnight Runners is now out in handsome paperback. Just saying.

(If I were the tattooing kind, I'd have these @quantick.bsky.social words about it inked on my person: "one of the great musical detective stories".)
