This pic from my 4th book, Growing Under Cover, shows some of the diversity of the winter greens I harvest; lettuce, mizuna, mache, and beet greens. Other fave winter crops include scallions, kale, carrots, leeks, and arugula to name a few. What do you pick over winter? ❄️

Lovely to still be harvesting hot and sweet peppers and tomatoes from my unheated greenhouse in mid-November, as well as fingerling potatoes from my raised garden beds. 😊 What are you still enjoying from your vegetable garden?

With a hard freeze in the forecast for tonight, I just picked the last of the Italian paste tomatoes from my unheated tunnel. A new record!

This is an unexpected colour combination! I don’t remember planting a nasturtium with this orange and burgundy colour scheme. But you better believe I’m saving seeds from it. 🌱😊

With first frost imminent I took some basil cuttings last week. Only took about 6 days for roots to form. Now to pot these up and put them under a grow light. Advice here: savvygardening.com/growing-herb...

I can’t decide which sunflowers I like more - Chocolate or Procut Orange. They’re both delightful and very bee-friendly. 🐝 #gardening

No rain for almost a month, but the mid-summer garden is chugging along. I’ve been deep watering every few days to reduce water waste and mulching the soil. Hoping for rain soon! 🌧️

It’s been 5 years since I turned a weedy grassy patch in my backyard into a flower and native plant garden. It now flowers from early spring through late autumn and attracts many species of bees, butterflies, and birds. #gardening

Just another spring day in Nova Scotia 😂 Even though 10 cm of snow has fallen I had to water the greenhouse veggies. Lots of spinach, arugula, peas, lettuce, and root veg coming along inside. #gardening
