Thrilled to have a new article in PRQ in time for the end of Pride month. doi.org/10.1177/1065... It demonstrates that having 2SLGBTQI+ candidates running in an electoral district is correlated to higher turnout among 2SLGBTQI+ voters - even in a relatively accepting place like 🇨🇦. #affinityeffects.

Every faculty who supported police on campus, every one who refused to sign letters of support for their brutalized students: you laid the bricks for politicians to believe they have the authority to crush student voice.

Your racism against Palestine is corroding everyone's freedoms.

It’s so dark and gloomy outside today in NL that the train conductor just wished us all “a pleasant evening”. It’s 10:40 AM 🙃

I believe I may also fit the bill :)

The starter pack I was searching for but couldn't find.

Great for scholars, journalists, and anyone looking for research-based takes on current events.

Please reply to this message or DM if you want me to add you, or anyone else, to the list 😊

Oh, thanks a lot! And yes that would make perfect sense! Strange also that Bluesky doesn’t notify me of being added to a list, or am I missing something?

Well since all of a sudden I got many new followers on here (no idea why-please tell me where you found me), I might as well share that I was recently interviewed about political masculinity (loosely) in connection with the US elections. www.ru.nl/en/research/...
Is 'masculinity' fueling the far right? | Radboud University
Gender and diversity scientist Nik Linders wants to know why left-wing voters shift to the far right. He believes the way far-right political parties handle masculinity, gender, and sexuality plays a ...

These detailed and topical questions provide a nuancing of how PRR voters attitudes align in profiles of preferences, which might help understand PRR success and the competition of PRR parties with others (including other PRR).
niklinders.bsky.social
Considering the mainstay & increasing influence of the PRR, we encourage adding the questions used here from DPES to other political survey studies, especially the civic/ethnic nationalism, populism & topical gender identity- and sexuality-related items. @eesresearch.bsky.social
niklinders.bsky.social
Dutch PRR-inclined voters may have an atypically modern attitude on gender & sexuality, but the profiles identified are likely present across Western Europe, with different relative prevalence. We thus provide a blueprint for addressing types of PRR voters in other contexts too.
niklinders.bsky.social
In contrast with civic-nationalism, support for ethno-nativism varies. We show that ethno-nativist attitudes align most with conservative positions on gender and sexuality, and religion. Both the gender-modern and gender-moderate classes are clearly less ethno-nativist.
niklinders.bsky.social
Civic-nationalism, resistance to colonial reparations & anti-eu sentiment are high for all 4 core classes. Issues salient in PRR discourse are thus crucial in voter attitudes too. We add that these are non-negotiable & hardly covary with other attitudes, incl. gender & sexuality.
niklinders.bsky.social
Our analysis shows support for gender & sexuality issues was comparatively high across the board for PRR-inclined voters in the Netherlands in 2021. However, across all classes, support for gay rights is marginally higher than support for trans-rights and non-binarity.
niklinders.bsky.social
An 'atypical' class, ~8% of PRR-inclined voters, is interesting for future research. These voters do not have any typical PRR attitude but still consider voting PRR. They are urban voters, more likely from migration background, and often answer they 'don't know' politicians.
