Agree with you on age. Miah is 11 now, and she's a very different dog to what she was when younger. Much calmer, although she's always been quite passive with other dogs. Just one of those days today, I think she was still a bit wary from this morning.

He then started to pester a reactive dog who was on a lead. I directed our two onwards without incident (I am so fkin proud of them at times).
His owner is a nice bloke, but it's not good really.

Unfortunately, it jumped and bit the end of her tail off. They pretty much stopped walking the dogs after that. 😞

Our two love spaniels too, definitely a breed that can cope with the high energy play. There's a goldie that Nova shies away from as he's too full on. But his owner is always on hand, and she knows him. Agree with you on picking up. Dad picked up Katy once as a patterdale was going for her

A friend of mine lost one of her whippets to cold water. 10 minutes and he was gone. The owner eventually surfaced, and said "I think she's over there". My only reply was "HE WAS CHASING HER". Thankfully she came to me just after.

Unfamiliar labrador chased Nova and we lost her. Owner nowhere in sight. The park is flanked by one quiet road and a fast flowing river on two sides. It wouldn't have caught her but it could've driven her into the river or the road. A whippet wouldn't last long in cold water ...

Would they kill it? If it stopped and said hello, unlikely. But a smallish furry object running in the opposite direction from them is one thing only - prey. Whippets have a high prey drive, it's in their DNA. Luckily cats can climb. 🤷♀️

I like cats, but a) I don't want it killing the birds and b) I really don't want to have to post on the local Facebook group to find someone to return it's corpse to when it does fail to outrun the dogs. It's their garden, I will not restrict their access to it because of a cat. 2/3
