Abortion is common. Abortion is health care.

Thank you #mayahawke for reminding us that everyone loves someone who has had an abortion 🧡

NIRH applauds the South Carolinians that used their voices to speak out against what could become the nation’s most restrictive anti-abortion legislation. If passed, SB323 will have devastating consequences.

Repro freedom and bodily autonomy MUST be a reality for all - no matter your race, income, or zip code. Our health should not be determined by political games.

Our President Christian LoBue shared ways this government shutdown will impact ALL OF US, and how states have an opportunity to respond.

Newsflash, RFK Jr 📢: The “safety studies” for medication abortion that you’re asking for ALREADY EXIST! There are over a hundred peer-reviewed studies that show abortion pills are unequivocally safe to use.

The attack on repro health care runs so deep that rightwing politicians are shutting down the government and let subsidies expire just to avoid providing affordable health care.

The federal government has made it clear that they won’t protect people’s access to care, so now it’s up to the states.

Today marks 49 years since the Hyde Amendment was enacted – a law that prohibits federal funds like Medicaid from being used to cover nearly all abortions.

NIRH is proud to partner with orgs like Whole Woman's Health Alliance who are working in their state to change the public insurance landscape.

We have NEW research on pregnancy-related prosecutions in the first two years after Dobbs, and there are surely more cases.

They show us that giving rights to fertilized eggs, embryos, and fetuses paves the way for people to be ARRESTED and PUNISHED for all pregnancy outcomes — beyond abortion.
In the two years after Dobbs, prosecutors initiated at least 412 cases charging people with crimes related to pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or birth. Prosecutors criminalized 31 people who experienced a pregnancy loss in the 2 years after Dobbs. Pregnancy related prosecutions happened in 16 states. These were the top 3: Alabama, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. Most cases involve allegations of substance use during pregnancy - 399/412

Most cases began in a medical setting - 264/412

Most cases involved the family policing system - 217/412

In this latest effort to control pregnant people, the Trump administration aims to stir confusion and spread health misinformation. This is not the first time and won’t be the last.

The evidence is clear: #tylenol is safe and effective during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Every day is the perfect day to uplift our providers, midwives, doulas, and everyone else who provides reproductive health care! We rely on them and the work they do, and they need our appreciation and gratitude now more than ever. We love ya!

Health-tracking tech has become a part of our everyday lives – and protecting our personal data collected by these tools has never been more critical. Sensitive health information, including reproductive health data, are being collected, shared, and sold to third parties, including the government.

Fact: The majority of people who have abortions already are or go on to become parents. Thank you #halsey for reminding us that abortions save lives and everyone needs access to abortion care. 🧡
