Push your institutions to designate scholar at risk funds + other support that may already exist for Ukrainian students. It’s heartbreaking to see how many Sudanese students exhaust all their resources w/o any support from the institutions and faculty who admitted them. (3/3)

the people at the institutions they are admitted to are unwilling to help them find funding, or even write letters in support of their visa applications. Without that support, it’s almost impossible to get a N. American visa. (2/3)

it arrives in the UAE it becomes worth $5000 dollars. If you look at the official statistics, Sudan’s gum arabic exports have decreased since the war started but gum arabic exports in countries like Kenya have risen despite the fact that they produce little gum arabic. (3/3)

Every once in a while I get angry at the Sudanese millionaire class esp. those who signed that port deal with the UAE in 2022. They have done nothing for Sudan's civilians during this war re: food + evacuations (at least not that I'm aware of) and set the stage 4 for the war early on.
