European states must respond very harshly to this, otherwise it'll just keep happening. Withdraw diplomatic recognition until Israel de-Likudises itself. Impose sanctions, expel Israeli companies, stage a blockade if need be. This must not stand!

So now we are paying billions of dollars to Argentina to bail out their failed libertarian economic policies then millions more for (mostly wealthy) farmers whose soybean crop sales are being replaced by Argentina’s now that China is refusing to buy ours because of Trump’s tariffs. Stable genius!

It's not just the regime, though. There is a genuine, grassroots cultural animus that turns aesthetic preferences into friend-enemy distinctions.
I vividly remember being told by a chat full of right-wing gamers that I'm a homosexual because I prefer slender to buxom women. It's that fucking stupid.

Well, yes, but with the caveat that the expertise and experience of the high ranking US officers goes away with them and can be put to work in another institution, such as the state national guards or the army of European states (including Canada).

I'd say the level of ideological polarisation in America is high enough for people to start shooting at each other, but I'm not certain those divisions exist along state lines and especially in the NG.

So, as I keep telling my American friends, there's really no good comparison between USA and Yugoslavia. Oregonians aren't a separate ethnic group with a separate religion and governance tradition. There is no federal presidency, and the agitator isn't the governor of Texas, but the president.

The trigger for the Slovene and Croat independence declarations was the attempt, driven by Milošević, at the time president of Serbia, to lock them out of the decision-making process at the federal level by seizing control of the federal presidium (Yugoslavia was a complex beast).
