NEW: An investigation by OSC finds that owners and associates of two Hammonton and Deptford nursing homes diverted tens of millions in Medicaid funds for personal gain. Residents were left to suffer.

OSC said the owners and associates should repay $124 million, plus penalties.

Laurie Facciarossa Brewer, NJ Long-Term Care Ombudsman, issued a statement on New Jersey’s proposed FY 2026 budget:

"This budget proposal is a complete giveaway to the nursing home industry.”

A last-minute provision in the State budget, due to be passed Monday, requires NJ to continue funding the lowest-rated nursing homes. (See p. 159)
OSC reports have shown these Medicaid-funded nursing homes maximize profits by providing subpar care.
