Can strongly recommend listening to the latest Origin Story podcast from @iandunt.bsky.social & @dorianlynskey.bsky.social
"In February 1933, Germany’s wealthiest industrialists, financiers, and CEOs were very explicitly promised by Hitler and Göring that these would be the last elections held for the next 10-100 years. They had no qualms getting out their checkbooks and signing over German democracy."

Today sees launch of our Call 4 Concern service at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. AKA ‘Martha’s Rule’, critical pt safety service that enables pts, families & carers to call for help when they feel something is wrong or that team caring for their loved one hasn’t recog worsening of their condition.

Am a big fan of the use of gardens in healthcare settings to improve the wellbeing of visitors, colleagues and patients. So delighted to see this at our visit to Poplar Grove GP Practice in Aylesbury on our visit to meet the PCN yesterday 🌳🌸

"Non-profit orgs were involved in ~1% of all NHS procurement by both value and volume. Their participation remains limited."

Extremely limited, I'd say.

So there's a huge opportunity for the gov to unlock if they commit to shifting towards prevention & community action in partnership w/ charities.
What role do non-profit organisations play in NHS service provision? https://buff.ly/3NWSMLA Charles Rahal's recent study analysed over 25k procurement datasets to see how these organisations contribute to #NHS service delivery.

The fact that UCC hid a 3000-year-old mummy under the floorboards of a lecture theatre on a campus where two and a half tonnes of uranium rods were being stored in a basement nearby and DIDN'T end up with a zombie-pharaoh apocalypse is both a mystery and endlessly disappointing

Interesting piece!
open.substack.com/pub/rorycell... My latest healthtech Substack post is about those annoying letters that are addressed to your GP but should be written for the patient
This charming gentleman has had enough of GP letters
Time for hospital doctors to write direct to patients
