This is the version of Pride and Prejudice we didn't know we needed... "Who is that hiding down the back of your sofa Mrs Bennet?" "Why, it's Mr. D'Arcy. They say he has £10,000 pounds. Which he found down the back of some sofas."

Hitting your mid-30s means your peers start Settling Down and get difficult to coax to a night outside of home, which is well and good but some of us are still trying to meet-cute a minor aristocrat with a large house and larger fortune, and he's probably not hiding down the back of a friend's sofa

Especially as Woolf actually specified £500pa and a room of one’s own. I once checked what that £500 was worth in current incomes, and I swear it was about £100k. Virginia had no romantic ideas about starving in an attic!

Woolf was definitely onto something with that A Room Of One's Own malarkey

Ciara is another amazingly talented artist well worth checking out. Link in her post.

Not only is her art deeply authentic and rooted in the best of us and what’s around us, she is a star to deal with. Don’t buy AI and mass-produced nonsense and support talented and decent people!

A year ago grok was posting fairly reasonable responses to user questions which Elon didn’t like and now he’s updated it so it’s citing stormfront. Everyone there is literally visiting a nazi website now
It's a censorship engine designed to promote ideas that Elon Musk likes and suppress ideas that Elon Musk does not like. I really don't get why this evident fact - that Musk openly admits! - is so hard for so many people to understand
An X user asks Elon Musk why they’re seeing tweets from left-wing lawmakers.

Musk: “Because we are failing very badly with the recommendations algorithm. Doing my best to address this.”

Anyone have any nice dating app stories since 2020 (not earlier)? Met a long-term partner, found their spouse-to-be, seduced and funnelled millions of dollars away from a witless American tech tycoon to be used in the revolution, that sort of thing

The cold and the ice at this time of year would be a lot more whimsical and enjoyable if 1. we had travel infrastructure that didn't become treacherously dangerous at the merest hint of frost and 2. Irish houses of a certain vintage didn't have the insulation quality of a damp paper bag
