Add in Team Ninja’s own mixed record (Stranger of Paradise = cult hit, Wo Long = divisive, Rise of the Ronin = mixed reviews), and it’s easy to see why players might wait for reviews or sales instead of preordering Ninja Gaiden 4

Astral Chain was good but it was locked to Switch hardware Babylon’s Fall was a PR disaster. Bayonetta 3 underdelivered, Origins bombed commercially.

Even though it was single-player and story-driven, everyone assumed it would be another “loot-grind cash grab.”

Reviewers loved it, but it sold poorly at launch. Only months later did people realize it was actually great after word-of-mouth and Game Pass.

Avengers:

A live-service, microtransaction-heavy mess that felt soulless and unfinished. Everyone remembered the XP throttling, “boosters,” repetitive missions, and broken promises.

It flopped because Square Enix destroyed player trust the year before with Marvel’s Avengers.

Platinum has the same problem Square Enix had in 2021:

Even if they make something good, people won’t believe it until long after launch.

Reputation damage spreads faster than reputation recovery.

It takes one flop to make people doubt you.

It takes three good games to make them believe again

In theory, clunky controls make horror scarier by limiting power.

In practice, it often just frustrates players, you die not because the monster outsmarted you, but because your character rotated like a forklift trying to back out of a parking space.

This constant cycle of outrage doesn’t help the fandom or the creators it just drives people away and makes everyone anxious to engage.

The show is two weeks old. There’s one episode. We’ll probably be waiting months for the next, so let’s not burn ourselves out before it even arrives.

Most of these “controversies” start as a handful of comments or tweets and then explode once screenshots and call-outs start circulating.

The actual number of people being hateful or harassing anyone is TINY compared to the amount of posts talking about it.

One episode in, and people are already turning every tiny thing into a massive discourse. It’s exhausting. Can we just chill and actually enjoy the show before we burn the fandom out completely?

Mechanism: the Aisuru botnet, which hijacks Internet-connected “smart” devices (IoT) and floods servers with fake TCP traffic that looks almost legitimate.

Impact: temporary loss of service, slowdowns, login and matchmaking issues not data theft or targeted infiltration.

Nature of the event: a record-breaking DDoS wave that peaked around 29.7 Tbps.

Scope: global it hit Steam, PSN, Epic, Riot, OpenAI, and others at the network layer, not at the application or account level.

The Steam outage today is annoying, but it doesn’t cripple access. You can still:

Launch most games
Play single-player offline
Access your library if you were already logged in

Meanwhile, the Sony outage back in February straight-up locked people out of everything
