Ok, so Andre’s not going anywhere this election, but what if we filled all these empty council seats with pro-#beltlinerail candidates? Could they force him to move forward with rail on the Eastside?

Woman just came into Doraville-bound MARTA train and urinated in her pants. Nobody seems to realize it’s pee except me

If you live in Georgia please contact Senator Matt Brass and ask him to support these bills. Otherwise the rate increases will accelerate beyond the unbearable increases just since 2023.

Ok but like I knew RFK was the wrong pick for HHS Sec given his antivax stances, but dang, like has it even been a month?

Yay! SB34 passed committee 8-4! It seems that they understood that ratepayers are pissed about #datacenters driving up our electricity bills and responded accordingly. #gapol

“GA power is used to adding hundred of megawatts of capacity a year. The new demand from large load customers (i.e. data centers) would now require them to add THOUSANDS a year.” #gapol #datacenters

It’s standing room only at the Senate Industries and Utilities Committee this morning. Will SB34, a bill to make #datacenters pay their #fairshare, get out of committee? The suit-to-casual ratio is concerning. Thank you for keeping us up to date, @pattydurand.bsky.social #gapol

Here’s a crossing of the new light light rail system in Kaohsieng, Taiwan. Hubby and I were enjoying a delightful evening strong alongside it. Why couldn’t #Atlanta have this?! #beltlinerailnow

The light rail in Kaohsieng Taiwan is amazing. The perfect blueprint for #Atlanta. It’s a complete bidirectional loop that was completed in the last 10 years along old rail corridor. It runs on grass alongside pedestrian thoroughfares, and it charges itself at stops, so there’s no wires overhead!

My neighbor’s reaction: “When are they gonna ban those ski masks?”

I’m like: “I don’t think the ski mask is the main issue here.”

Another luxurious yet practical train in Japan.

Zipping around Japan on bullet trains, monorails, subways, cable cars - all of them pristine and on time - all I can think about is how this is what happens when a country focuses on the needs of its people instead of trying to project power and influence beyond its own borders.

Next let's stop Fulton Dev Authority giving data centers completely unnecessary property tax breaks. Half a dozen announced for S Fulton in 2024 have not grabbed theirs yet.
Atlanta is leading a national movement of cities to challenge the proliferation of data centers, and I am proud to have played a pivotal role in driving this effort forward.
Once again, a great many thanks to @jasondozier.bsky.social and @westmorelandatl.bsky.social for tackling this issue head on. Atlanta is better for it.

A chance to read about last week's mural dedication at the new Pearl Cleage and Zaron Burnett Center for Culture & Creativity in the #Atlanta West End...

Catching the train from airport station tonight I was thrilled to discover that MARTA is now offering drink service! Stewards are selling a variety of shots in ampules, which they have ingeniously secured into shotshell belts over their shoulders. Talk about SMARTA!

Jason Hudgens: “We’ve seen our city invest in sporting events — with the upcoming World Cup and the Super Bowl and the NCAA championship — and in the Beltline. But when it comes to the most vulnerable in our city, we don’t see that same level of investment or that same level of commitment.”
When temperatures drop below 40°, the city typically issues a press release announcing that it will open two emergency warming centers — the Old Adamsville and Central Park rec centers.

But not today...

As temperatures dip, it's unclear whether Atlanta's main emergency warming center will open
The Old Adamsville Recreation Center is not on city’s latest warming center list.

Someone please explain what’s been going on between the Fulton County Magistrate Court, the Superior Court, and the Fulton County Commission.

Whose side should I be on?

School vouchers are a re-segregation tax, in which everyone is forced to pay the most racist white people so they can avoid sending their kids to schools with minorities.

The only plus side is that the schools suck and don't help their kids get into better colleges. 🙏
As voucher programs expand, they worsen. In states with universal voucher programs, more of the public monies go to students already in private school and to wealthier families.
GOP states are embracing vouchers. Wealthy parents are benefitting.
Most of the beneficiaries are incoming kindergarteners or students already enrolled in private schools.
