Classic traveling with DB.

Train got cancelled. So: major reroute. ~30min after that new train left the station, it stopped between stations: issues with the tracks. Notification: delay 112min.

Now thistrain is taking a detour *via the station I came from.*

Can’t make that shit up.

It’s funny how Discord seems to have some kind of heuristics for when to install updates.

Opened it this morning: No updates.

Opened it just now, on a train: TIME FOR UPDATES!

There it is! Finally, a real solution for how to style all of the HTML form controls using your own custom CSS to change anything — building on an interoperable UA set of defaults.

First, styling the in-page part of controls + the popover for <select>. (Later we’ll do popovers for more things.)

CSS functions make this type of shenanigans SO much easier - and kinda addictive. Love 'em!

All from a single element, no JS.

Huge thank you and congrats to @domfarolino.com ❤️

Remember Unhinged? One of my goals is to keep it as visually minimalistic as possible while still staying true to its name. It's not supposed to feel like a run-of-the-mill app without character. Instead, I want it to feel slightly weird while still being easy to understand. (Thread)

I think in CSS the BEM approach is very similar to OOP; while Utility First is closer to FP.

So when people haven't been exposed to FP much or have a hard time with it, I found they tend to struggle more with Tailwind and how to create useful custom utilities, variants or components.

Understanding the purpose and usefulness of contexts in Phoenix took me a while, but over time they became a natural way of doing things for me in general - not just in phoenix/elixir.

Elixir idioms are leaking into every other language I write, and so far it was *always* for the better.

I really love my curved ultrawide display. However, in the last few months, I often really would like to have more vertical space. Especially with dev-tools open.

I guess, now I finally understand those 3:2 aspect-ratio displays that seem to pop up more often.

No typing feedback should be the default for all real-time messaging apps, together with buffering messages if the user presses Enter but keeps typing. It would encourage healthier exchanges by avoiding quick reactions to incomplete ideas.
I disabled showing who's typing in Slack about a week ago and it's been a game-changer! 💥

Previously, I'd see someone typing, and my inclination would be to stick around and stay engaged. Now I'm way less distracted and get through messages so much faster. Highly recommend trying it.

Bought a 3D printer a while ago when I encountered the gridfinity system.

I’m still in the early phase and have a lot of uncluttering, clearing-out and even more printing to do, but I am already so hooked on this system.
