I'll be in Eugene and Portland next week for a series of book talk events -- and I'll be in Portland tomorrow/Friday for the PacTrans conference, and back for MPACT at the end of the month. Come find me if you're around!

It's not getting coverage, but the Mayor also seems to have killed (maybe because nobody cared enough to notice) the much overdue repaving of the pedestrian path. Part of it now seems to be in progress, but still unclear what happened and when the full path will be accessible.

A major intersection redesign near Seward Park was ready to go to construction with a Mayor's Office review the only impediment, records show. The exchanges reveal what was happening behind the scenes as the public was kept in the dark about the upgrades.

Thanks to advocacy from @nondriver.bsky.social and many others, SDOT and WSDOT have implemented short term improvements to make Judkins Park station easier to access. Long term improvements are in the works, but still a few years away.

More than a third of Americans don’t have reliable car access to get to work, school, or the grocery store. Our new transportation map can help policymakers better understand their communities and build a system that will benefit everyone.

Earlier in the week we traveled to eastern WA to support a walkabout and Valley Transit ride organized by the Walla Walla/Columbia County Accessible Communities Advisory Committee, where we were joined by many local electeds and public officials!

I probably shouldn’t post while I’m still mad but I just took my biggest swing for #WeekWithoutDriving - West Merriam Park to Woodbury (suburbs!) for my niece’s soccer game. It was a complete failure. Multiple issues occurred, but I could have still made but for one thing: our cities are 1/

I was weighing this, but after some thought I decided getting a ticket for this uncompleted infrastructure project that was supposed to happen would be such bad PR for the mayor right before the election that I'd be thrilled to get cited

The original project scope was much larger and involved a lot of speed bumps for slowing traffic that were removed, so there's no question that there should be funding available to repair the entire trail.

It also appears there aren't any sidewalk improvement markings on the northernmost half of the path closest to Coleman dock. Note this section did get the boulders installed for a car safety.

Because there's still time before the election for an official Mount Harrell naming ceremony if necessary 🤣

I've been going thru all the official channels for a month now trying to figure out what happened to this path improvement project that was supposed to take place over the summer and haven't been able to get a response. So if you're from the city and you're reading this could you share the timeline?
