Watching #strictly results show a day late. Why on earth is the guest singer’s volume always so low compared to the rest of the show. Often if they have a band with them you can’t hear the singer at all. They fail at this EVERY year.

Me as a kid- I’ve used up all the bricks- is there something else I can use to finish the building.
My grandson in the same predicament- “Granny you need to go to the brick store to get some more “

@shelaghfogarty.bsky.social I cannot believe the lack of humanity displayed by your pro-Russian callers. This is a simple question- do you support a country that invaded another country or not. If you do, you align yourself with the pre-war appeasers that strengthened and lengthened WWII.

Everyone should listen to @jonathanpienews.bsky.social at least once in their life. Great training for how to vent your spleen in a wildly coherent fashion.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social be aware that some of those people will be on very low doses of antidepressants for non-specific pain conditions like fibromyalgia- because they are at low levels painkillers for nerve pain so the % who would benefit from therapy is a lot lower than the 20% you are quoting

Feeling old - #ImperialCollege just emailed me to remind me that I left them 40 years ago this year. That also means that it was 40 years ago that I was working in Our Price Records in the Kings Road, which was probably the last time my music knowledge was at all current.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social favourites - as a son being the eldest probably least favourite as a parent my favourite child is my only son and as a grandfather I cannot split my 2 grandchildren apart, both are lovely.

Here is the key section of that train wreck of an interview by Robert Jenrick on #r4today.

Robinson: Did you raise it when you were Home Office minister?

Jenrick: We talked about it... I wasn't... My portfolio... But we talked about it.

Only a minute, if you can bear it. ~AA

🧪 Can anyone on this feed explain mathematically what the ideal length of a pre-Christmas visit is that allows the renewal of neighbourliness but does not interfere with the Christmas preparations of those visited?

@mrjamesob.bsky.social I nearly became economically inactive earlier in the autumn when I signed on and was told that after signing on for 2 weeks I had to accept any job going rather than looking for one that matched my skills and previous salary. 2 weeks is ludicrous- it used to be 3 months

It’s that special time of year where I tell you about 19th century Christmas cards being so batshit weird!

Here’s a podcast I did with Dr Ferren Gipson - expect clowns assaulting cops, polar bears savaging men, giant wasps attacking kids, and more weird animal fun!
