Today my first politician candidate sign ever was placed by my driveway. I came home to see the cheerful red glow as the late day sun 🌞 lit it up. As I told a friend, there comes a time when you have to stand up for something, or else you stand for nothing.

Cuts to the NWS will have an impact in our region.
Weather balloons provide very important data for weather forecasting models (including the Canadian & European models) and provide important insights during fall, winter and spring storms here in the northeast.

Lack of staff is leading to the loss of even more balloon observations. I look at hundreds of these data points daily for my job. Both observed & model derived. These balloon observations can be critical in accurate severe thunderstorm forecasts & watch issuance. They improve model accuracy as well.

Canada is in a trade war with the U.S.—we can’t afford to lose control of our news and media.

Without the CBC, foreign and corporate interests will dictate our news, silence independent journalism, and leave Canadians uninformed.

Thousands are fighting back. Will you? forwardcanada.ca/protectcbc

What an incredible insult, to work hard all week and then have to explain oneself to this wanker. I feel bad for the Americans caught up in this web of bullshit. I can’t imagine the stress involved.

I will use every tool at my disposal to protect this country from Trump. I will litigate to defend voting rights until there are no cases left to bring. I will speak out against authoritarianism until my last breath.

I will not back down. I will not bow or scrape. I will never obey.

What’s really wrecking America (& Canada) is the private equity plague with its billionaire “modern-age robber barons” amassing stupefying riches by mining wealth “from the poor and the middle class” thru bullshit financial dealings, killing jobs & people, destroying the environment and climate…

Nothing sleeps as soundly as a deaf cat in front of the wood stove.
It also calms my mind after reading the news and seeing what that dink south of the border is raving on about.

My kind of light show!

The third December day in a row of waking up to fluffy white snow. I do love those beautiful first snows that are light and stick to everything. Suddenly the November gloom is gone, my floors aren’t muddy and the air smells so fresh.

Antigonish/Guysborough Industrial Wind Turbine Projects. Map from Green Nova Scotia first.

Are people OK with this? That huge areas of the province will be altered to export energy overseas? Meanwhile little to no benefit to Nova Scotians. Why isn’t this an election topic?

Heading to work a little earlier than typically necessary, so I can drop by a local pharmacy to receive my influenza vaccine. Really easy to book on-line.

So grateful to spend some time at SaltAir Nordic Spa in Baxter’s Harbour, overlooking the Bay of Fundy. The saunas and pools were lovely but what surprised me was how much I enjoyed the cold plunge pool. Only after baking in the sauna first, though! Nice treat on a gloomy November afternoon.

Lots of craft fairs around Nova Scotia this weekend. I attended the Somerset Christmas Craft Fair today, where shoppers lined up ahead of the 10am opening. I saw many talented artisans, had a bowl of hot potato squash soup (yum!) and found more than a few goodies to buy.

I’m greatly disturbed by the massive wind project planned for Guysborough County. Huge swaths of pristine wilderness will be destroyed to benefit foreign interests while the local folks struggle to pay their NS Power bills. There’s something very, very wrong about this.

Good morning folks. Cold (-1°C), dark and a bit windy up here on Nova Scotia’s North Mountain, between the Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy. Work day for me, so I’ll be venturing out soon enough. Note to self after yesterday morning: put ice scraper in the vehicle.

Just joined #BlueSky tonight and even in this short time frame I can see how refreshing it is to be here! Folks saying “welcome” to the newcomers, nature photos, adorable pet pictures and uplifting messages. It’s a good day to start fresh.

Photo taken 4 evenings ago from my deck, just moments before a big cloud rolled in from the Bay of Fundy. I’m enjoying this period of increased solar activity over the last year or so and the opportunity to capture images of the northern lights with my cell phone. It just feels really magical.
