Calvin and Hobbes Sunday strip in color consisting of various panels of Calvin’s dad having a miserable time as a cyclist (getting bullied by cars, getting filthy in the garage while trying to repair his bike, crashing on a rock and tumbling down a hill, getting laughed at by Calvin for wearing Lycra). In the last panel he’s sitting in a bathtub and he says “The secret to enjoying your job is to have a hobby that’s even worse.”

i personally think it is extremely weird for anyone at all to feel compelled to express gratitude for having been born.

but since #adoptees are eternal charity cases, we’re expected to thank everyone.

Not many say that they are grateful for being alive nor thankful for the upbringing they had it appears only the problem ones speak out and maybe that is helping them come to terms with their anxieties. It appears it is OK for most of you too, degrade the bio mom For the reasons she chose. You will never know what I went through or other biological moms went through. You have a choice. Don't live your life in doom and blame others for your issues. Seek help and take a pill.

First Mother Forum 6h・ When I wrote to the agency who handled the adoption about my daughter, I received a letter saying her parents "were most delighted with her." What it did not say was that she had epilepsy and her doctor was already trying to get in touch with them, and by extension, me...to learn more about her medical history--that is, about me and her biological father. That letter went unanswered. Now it is true that the agency was going through transition--new director--but the result was the closed adoption made treatment for my daughter all the more complicated. She had no history other than I was Polish and of good health at the time she was relinquished. At age five or six, she began having multiple seizures and had been hospitalized several times. This is not good policy. This is not in the best interests of the child. This is wrong in any way you slice it.

Despite everything, I'm resisting the urge to log off X. Not because I endorse anything Musk has done, but because I refuse to let the predators win. If every woman deletes her account, what are we left with? A degenerate echo chamber where perverts and paedophiles are welcome, provided they pay an entry fee? That helps no one. In fact, I suspect that the more of us leave, the more this kind of behaviour will escalate.

RE: SB381 - DO PASS RECOMMENDATION Dear Senator Caroline Menjivar and Members of the Senate Health Committee: I am the spokesperson for the New York Adoptee Rights Coalition. In 2019, New York secured the right for all New York-born adult adopted people to request and obtain certified copies of their own original birth certificates. The legislation took effect on January 15, 2020. Since that time vital record authorities in New York have released more than 20,000 original birth records to the adult adopted people named on them. Since the law's enactment, NYARC has not heard any negative stories from birth parents, who have also been some of our most active advocates and allies. We have, however, heard from people thanking us for helping to heal their families by ensuring that their adopted loved one is treated as an equal citizen to their non-adopted relatives, neighbors, and friends. The sky has not fallen, people are not hiding from one another, and no harm has been done to anyone. Remarkably, Democratic Assembly Member Deborah Glick, who long opposed similar bills, realized that the law no longer worked and that it reflected and reinforced outdated stereotypes associated with adoption and "out-of-wedlock" births. She concluded that the law was overdue for change. She also apologized to adoptees on the floor of the Assembly, after which there was a standing ovation when the bill passed 56-6. I am sure you are hearing from California adoptees, adoptive parents, and birthparents about SB381. I trust they are making the same arguments about equality that won out in New York six years ago. Suffice it to say that New York, after eighty-three years with one of the most restrictive vital records laws in the country, turned a corner on January 15, 2020. The results have been nothing short of astounding. Please support SB381. I am open to any questions about New York's current law. r/CambridgeMA u fullcamber • 2h ICE in North Cambridge About a dozen agents assembled in the St. John The Evangelist Church parking lot on Mass. Ave. in North Cambridge between 9:00 and 9:30 this morning. They drove off in approximately 5 random cars after strapping on tactical vests (at least one was marked DEA) and one individual seemingly tucked a handgun into the waistband of his pants. Called it into LUCE and the Cambridge Police (their response was simply "ok thanks") but I want people in the neighborhood to be aware of this. Tried to snap some photos but they didn't come through very clearly.

The socialization process for every child begins at birth and includes his cultural heritage as an important segment of the process. In our society, the developmental needs of Black children are significantly different from from those of white children. Black children are taught, from an early age, highly sophisticated coping techniques to deal with racist practices perpetrated by individuals and institutions. These coping techniques become successfully integrated into ego functions and can be incorporated only through the process of developing positive identification with significant Black others. Only a Black family can transmit the emotional and sensitive subtleties of perception and reaction essential for a Black child's survival in a racist society. Our society is distinctly black or white and characterized by white racism at every level. We repudiate the fallacious and fantasied reasoning of some that whites adopting Black children will alter that basic character.

We fully recognize the phenomenon of trans-racial adoption as an expedient for white folk, not as an altruistic humane concern for Black children. This has brought about a re-definition of some Black children. Those born of Black-White alliances are no longer Black as decreed by immutable law and social custom for centuries. They are now Black-White, inter racial, bi-racial, emphasizing the whiteness as the adoptable quality; a further subtle, but vicious design to further diminish black and accentuate white. We resent this highhanded arrogance and are insulted by this further assignment of chattel status to Black people.

The little Danes experiment, also known simply as the experiment (Danish: eksperimentet), was a 1951 Danish operation where 22 Greenlandic Inuit children (known as “experiment children"; Danish: eksperimentbørn) were sent to Danish foster families in an attempt to re-educate them as "little Danes". While the children were all supposed to be orphans, most were not. Six children were adopted while in Denmark, and sixteen returned to Greenland, only to be placed in Danish-speaking orphanages and never lived with their families again. Half of the children experienced mental health disturbances, and half of them died in young adulthood. The government of Denmark officially apologised in 2020, after several years of demands from Greenlandic officials.
