When the PM says ‘we don’t owe them a living’, we should be clear that this is not a metaphor.

A living is life. And I want to live in a society in which it is clear that this is the least we owe each other, and are owed. 💞

The streets in #Christchurch east of Latimer Square that have a cycle route to Linwood Park (and from there then on dedicated cycle paths all the way to Sumner) are some way in this direction. #NZ drivers probably aren’t good enough to lift it to what it could be 😞

In #NZ 's case the current government has cut the workforce, chopped a big chunk out of the main blue-skies grant, & more recently aims to rob that till for their "commercially-linked" projects. Etc.

And just like that... another cell tower burned down in Queenstown Lakes region.

That's five attacks in the past few weeks.

The irony is this puts people's health at risk. Almost all emergency calls go via mobile networks.

It'll be at least four weeks before a replacement tower can be deployed.
