What do you do about Keith Hernandez whose value is better understood now we have a deeper appreciation of defense and defensive metrics?

That said, he's still borderline at best.

My pro-Wright argument:

a) Peak
b) 3B gets undervalued by HOF voters
c) "integrity, sportsmanship, character" are all strongly in his favor; those shouldn't be used only in negative cases
d) "contributions to the team(s) on which the player played" is huge for him -- he's a top 5 Met.

Yep, I know a lot of people in the latter camp.

And then there are also the group who can't calculate how long it takes their kids to be ready for anything.

Lawler is in trouble here anyway. A lot of organic organization to defeat him, particularly in Westchester, and I doubt he'll hold enough of his strength in Rockland/Putnam.

You can remove "unilaterally" and "via a social media post" from this, even.

There are a LOT of decent picks out there. In the non-LOTR, non-Harry Potter category, Matt Damon is a stealthily good one -- has cameos in Field of Dreams, Deadpool 2, and Thor: Ragnarok.

I think you're discounting ego too much. That drives his *everything*.
