True — thankfully it’s seen some improvements

Another announcement thing that’s weird. “Line 6 to {destination}” gets announced to people *inside* the train *before* the doors open. Who is that for? lol

If I’m on the train going to wrong way, I probably already figured it out by that point.

The fare gates and the wayfinding/signage/branding are probably the best things about Line 6 right now. Metrolinx has come a long way since the wayfinding disaster of Union a several years ago.

And another thing on doors. We sat at Humber College station for like 8 minutes and the entire time the doors stayed open. GO trains will close the doors while it’s waiting at a terminus and allow people to press the door open button.

Please do this @ttchelps.bsky.social, it’s so cold.

It’s cold out right now and yet all of the doors open at every stop. We can take a page out of Ottawa’s book and only open the doors on demand, at least at lesser used stations.

This is a #Line6 rant post if it wasn’t clear

Now that I’m on a train that’s not just foamers and people riding for fun. I’m noticing a fair amount of people frantically pressing the door button when they see the opposite direction platform and hear the “arriving“ announcement but the doors don’t start opening. It’s actually super confusing.

The “arriving at” announcements happen way too early. This is very noticeable at far side stops when you hit a red light (which is VERY OFTEN BY THE WAY).

There’s often 60-90 second between the station announcement and actually arriving. So you can easily miss what station you’re at.

Overall, I love the wayfinding and branding decisions Metrolinx made on the line. But in the TTC side, it’s not well signed.

What do I do after this sign? I see a sign for Line 1 beyond this, but no line 6. If not for the temporary sign, you just need to guess where to go.

When RSD started I was trainspotting and wound up easily out walking the train between Westmore and Humber.

I had assumed it was just part of testing but my god. Riding it today was so crushing.

I think these are lovely spaces but I’d really like to see more green space for pet relief. Walking around downtown with a dog you realize how few spaces there are, outside of parks, for pets to go. This unfortunately leads to some pretty gross scenes on the sidewalks.

"This idea of having multiple different kinds of dwelling types in a single neighbourhood — some people have said we need to pilot it. Would it be fair to say we've piloted this in downtown Toronto for about 100 years?" asks Councillor Perks.

Planning staff confirm this is true.
