Experiencing the Line 6 opening today as a transit nerd is kind of like being 8 and your parents let you go to laser tag for your birthday but none of your friends show up so you’re pretty let down but you still get to have pizza and Mountain Dew

Okay, back to hating.

About halfway across the line and not even hitting the abysmally low bar

I’m not a total hater about #Line6, this is fantastic. Clear and useful from far away. Nice relevant details up close.

Do this in every corner of the region please.

Been waiting 15 minutes now at Finch West station for a Line 6 train. That alone is unacceptable. Spadina cars come far more frequently with worse infrastructure.

On top of the lack of signal priority, there’s some weird soft product quirks that need fixing.

Today the Finch West LRT opens, connecting Finch West station to Humber College. To mark the occasion, we mapped the route alignment relative to surrounding land-use patterns and examined how population has grown and declined along the route over 25 years https://ow.ly/qNiS50XENwc

The impact of the low speeds (for now) on Line 6 Finch West? One of the most obvious trips from the Spadina Subway to Humber College is usually faster taking buses.

I’d argue though that the non headline names in 2007 were relatively bigger names than today’s

Ontario's healthcare system could be, overnight, improved by about 10% if we had a province-wide restaurant style pager system.

It could text you when you're going to be seen within 30 minutes. Meaning you could leave instead of needing to sit in a windowless waiting room with CP24 blasting.

A new bar, Bosque, on Broadview is under threat before it even opens because a killjoy objected to their liquor license application.

This is a 10 minute walk to the Danforth, one of the liveliest streets in Toronto.

You can sign in support of Bosque here:

We're trying to open a new bar (bosque) located at 940 Broadview and we need your help!
Why we need your help: We've invested the last year and our entire life savings into renovating the space and building a place that we will be proud to welcome you all into, but one of our neighbours ...

"This idea of having multiple different kinds of dwelling types in a single neighbourhood — some people have said we need to pilot it. Would it be fair to say we've piloted this in downtown Toronto for about 100 years?" asks Councillor Perks.

Planning staff confirm this is true.

I love Canadian journalism but news orgs need to stop borrowing the pricing model of telcos.

Every year:
1. Get promo from The Globe & Star
2. Promo is shockingly cheap
3. Price goes to shockingly expensive
4. Call to cancel
5. Get shockingly cheap rate again

Can I just pay $15/month and be done?

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

RESULT: Omaha's Republican Mayor Jean Stothert just lost to her Democratic challenger John Ewing.

Stothert, who was running for a fourth term, resorted to anti-trans ads and messaging around who uses bathrooms in the final stretch of the campaign.

Ewing will be Omaha's first Black mayor.
