Pennsylvania deserves a flagship public university that is affordable and accessible to the people it was built to serve.

The zoning rewrite in State College will help make it more affordable to live there.
State College Borough has a housing affordability crisis. Updating our zoning won't fix everything, but it's a necessary first step. After years of working and waiting to make this a reality the new zoning draft will finally be revealed to council and the public tonight at 7 pm in council chambers.
State College has a draft for a new zoning ordinance. How to see it, offer input
The draft ordinance will be shown during a joint meeting between the State College borough council, planning commission and the zoning revision advisory committee Thursday.

Terrible outcome for our city. I spoke in favor of this project and it’s so frustrating to see this go up in smoke.
Terrible news for Pittsburgh: The 264‑unit Mellon’s Orchard North housing project is dead.

50 affordable homes—gone. Hundreds of apartments—gone. All because of the roadblocks our city puts in the way of new homes.

This is what failure through bad rules looks like. 🧵

Over 1,000 homes are on hold in Pittsburgh because of the Gainey administration’s flawed inclusionary zoning proposal. We warned this would happen. They denied it.

Now families are stuck waiting—and the city is pretending it’s not their fault.
NEWS - PGH’s inclusionary zoning push is causing some developers/investors to pause housing builds even before law is passed. One developer I spoke to isn’t wholesale against IZ, but says it needs tax breaks, mayor doesn’t seem keen on adding tax breaks in www.axios.com/local/pittsb...

This is what effective advocacy looks like. Very proud of the work @prohousingpgh.org did on this, and thankful for our dedicated city councilors for passing this unanimously!
Kudos to @prohousingpgh.org and their successful advocacy that’s led to Pittsburgh’s eliminating minimum lot sizes per units and eliminating and/or reducing minimum lot sizes citywide!

The mayor turned his housing walk into a campaign rally. I won’t be there. This video breaks down why: his debate claim of 1,600 new completed affordable units simply isn’t backed by his own tracker.

this disingenuous thread conveniently leaves out that:
- donny's family wants to sell the place; every day that they don't sell it; they pay fines due to the building not being up to code. no one is offering any help to the family for this; they literally want them to pay for the historic site. 1/n

It was the cornerstone of his campaign, affordable housing, but Mayor Gainey's promise to grow units in the city has fallen short.

It was a privilege to deliver a statement on behalf of Pro-Housing Pittsburgh. Despite the boos and jeers that I received from several audience members, I’m so glad that I was able to stand up for my neighbors who are the least fortunate among us.
Adding roadblocks to supportive housing in a time when more people are becoming homeless is the wrong direction for our city.
