Fair pay. Better universities.

University staff need fair pay that keeps up with the cost of living. Food, rent, and bills haven’t stopped rising and neither should your pay. Hard work, sacrifice, and increased productivity should be recognised.

The NTEU stands with Jewish Australians as they grieve this devastating and targeted act of violence.

Violence, hatred and antisemitism have no place in our society. We stand in solidarity, care, and shared humanity.

Wage theft has become ingrained in the Australian university sector, which is why reform is needed.

This victory belongs to the professional staff at QUT who felt the destructive consequences of wage theft.

Tuesday’s Stop Work at UTS made our power impossible to ignore.

Because UTS members took action, the VC has already scaled back parts of his cuts and backed away from some of his extreme proposals.

But big problems remain.

We’ve shown what we can win. Now we keep the pressure on 👉 nteu.au/join

Big win at QUT! 🎉

This didn’t happen because management had a change of heart. It happened because we acted collectively.

We need to talk about AI.

While AI is here to stay, if kept unchecked, it can be used to increase workloads, threaten job security, and undermine academic integrity. Register here for next week's session: nteu.info/ai

Management from University of Newcastle have walked away from direct negotiations with NTEU, used a manufactured financial crisis to justify 140 job cuts while ignoring crushing workloads.

NTEU members at QUT are standing up together against 21 forced redundancies in the Faculty of Science. Educators, researchers and professional staff bring science to life for thousands of students. Forced job cuts don’t build better universities – staff do.

“This is a cynical tactic. The University of Newcastle has shown it would rather blow up negotiations and push disputes to the commission than engage constructively with staff seeking fair pay and conditions.” -NTEU General Secretary, Dr Damien Cahill
